A hardiness zone is a geographic area defined as having a certain average annual minimum temperature, a factor relevant to the survival of many plants. In some systems, other statistics are included in the calculations. The original and most widely used system was developed by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
This API will receive a US Zip Code and it will deliver the Hardiness Zone Code.
This API is ideal to create a portal from where users will check the Hardiness of the zone they live in. This is great for agricultural websites or applications.
The only limitation is the number of API calls you can make per month.
Pass a ZIP code in the endpoint path to return an object that includes the ZIP code and USDA Plant Hardiness Zone.
{"hardiness_zone":"7a","zipcode":"19709"}
curl --location --request GET 'https://zylalabs.com/api/772/usda+plant+hardiness+zone+api/507/get+hardiness&zipcode=Required' --header 'Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY'

The Get Hardiness endpoint returns an object containing the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone and the corresponding ZIP code. For example, a response may look like `{"hardiness_zone":"7a","zipcode":"19709"}`.
The key fields in the response data are `hardiness_zone`, which indicates the plant hardiness zone, and `zipcode`, which specifies the input ZIP code used for the query.
The response data is organized in a JSON format, consisting of key-value pairs. Each response includes the hardiness zone and the ZIP code, making it easy to parse and utilize in applications.
The endpoint provides information about the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone associated with a specific ZIP code, which is crucial for understanding plant survival in different climates.
Typical use cases include agricultural applications, gardening websites, and climate-related tools where users need to determine suitable plants for their local environment based on hardiness zones.
Users can utilize the returned data to inform planting decisions, select appropriate plant species, and provide localized gardening advice based on the hardiness zone associated with their ZIP code.
The data is sourced from the USDA's established hardiness zone maps, which are based on historical temperature data and are widely recognized for their accuracy in determining plant viability.
Data accuracy is maintained through regular updates and validation against historical climate data, ensuring that the hardiness zones reflect current climatic conditions for various regions.
